"Once we clearly acknowledge the soul, we can learn to hear it's cries. - Dallas Willard, Renovation Of The Heart."

It takes courage to pursue our dreams. It takes time and patience to unearth buried treasure. But I believe with all my heart that we must do both.

Reality

My daughter was recently diagnosed with Lyme Disease. We have been to numerous doctors over the past few years with not much help. Finally, an answer to all she has been living with.

While talking with her health practitioner, I mentioned the pain I have been living with for several years, which I have always thought was Fibromyalgia. She suggested I get tested as well, and yes I have Lyme too.  As I think back on the timing of it all, I realize my pain began the same year Meg was diagnosed with Mono, which may or may have not been Mono but Lyme. That spring we went to the NC mountains for a week and did a lot of hiking and rode horses.  I am thinking that is where we may have gotten it.

That was 6 years ago!

So life looks a bit different around here these days.  The medicine can make you feel worse before it makes you feel better.

It is!

I am choosing to do what I can when I can, and be okay with what I can't...

Learning to take everything a bit slower.

I know you are glad to finally be getting some answers after all this time. Both of you have been struggling with this since I have known you....

I pray this medicine will work and both of you will be back to normal very soon...Both of you are too young to be feeling the way you do so often....

Love you girlfriend,
Nanie

So sorry. Know so many dealing with these painful situations. I've had malaria twice while in Uganda, and it ain't pleasant, but, w/in a few weeks, or few months, I'm always back to OK. Hope solutions come together well for you and your daughter.

Finally an accurate diagnosis! LD often gets confused for firbro, so many similarities but different ways to deal with it, am hoping the medications do their work, it's a major life adjustment that's for sure

Mary! Oh thank God for a diagnosis
that is crisp and clear and for solutions that will help as they're applied.
Will pray, friend.
Will pray for a quick mend
and speedy re-alignment of every morsel of both of you.

I hear ya sis, and feel a hear a little sigh of relief that at least you both now know what you've had and are taking the appropriate meds. Wish there were good meds for Fibro...I know there has to be a disease that causes Fibro...but it hasn't been found yet. I've had that western test you asked about so we definitely know I don't have Lyme. I'm sending gentle hugs, and continue with my prayers as you begin to feel God's grace & peace surround you my sweet sister.

Mary, my heart goes out to you and Meg. I can't imagine what it is like to deal with ongoing pain. I'm glad you are allowing yourself some leeway. I think your raw journaling is a great way to vent. Hugs!!

Have you looked into bartonella? I thought I had "lyme" for years! Of course I tested negative for borellia. It took nearly 7 years of research to figure out I got infected with bartonella from my cats! I am now taking 2 antibiotics (rifampin and clarithromycin) and MSM (organic sulfur) and finally clearing the infection out slowly. This all came from studying the work of Dr. Robert Mozayeni and Dr. Edward Breitschwerdt who are doing cutting edge science and treatment of bartonella infections. You can google them and look up videos of their lectures on youtube. Dr Edward Breitschwerdt is a veterinarian who found the link between cats, bartonella, fleas and the humans that are infected by it. Dr. Mozayeni is an MD in Maryland who treats patients for bartonella very successfully. With the above antibiotics, he has a 95% "cure" rate! If you want to know more you can email me at gardens456@gmail.com All the best to you in your recovery and thank you for your beautiful art! :) Katooshie
