"Once we clearly acknowledge the soul, we can learn to hear it's cries. - Dallas Willard, Renovation Of The Heart."

It takes courage to pursue our dreams. It takes time and patience to unearth buried treasure. But I believe with all my heart that we must do both.

oh Mary....I hear your heart.....I hear your heart....I too, have been on a search for Meaning lately.....in the process I've been doing a lot of reading - blowing the dust off some old books, buying some new ones....journaling a lot in the process....

Right now I'm reading two poignant books....one is Henri Nouwen's book of The Story of Homecoming, The Return of the Prodigal Son.....sort of a memoir...deeply philosophical and orienting.....also, a book called "Stay" by Jennifer Hecht....a collection of philosophical arguments - since Plato, Josephus and beyond - against suicide.....in essence it ends up being an incredible compilation by the most brilliant minds in history of the Meaning of Life.....It has absolutely blown the walls off my mental and spiritual horizon, changing my lens completely.

Another two beautiful reads of mine right now, the "we read to know we're not alone" sort of reads, are a collection of poetry by Rumi (any collection will do...this too, will change your paradigm) and, of course, Anne Morrow Lindbergh's "Gift From the Sea"....always steadying for me....

it was C.S. Lewis who said, "we read to know we're not alone", and sometimes just not feeling alone in what we're feeling makes so much difference.

I know you just finished Anne Lamott's new book, as did I....I think the most profound thing I took away from that read was this: "We're all just here to walk each other Home." ...

...if that is true Mary, if that's what it's about, then I must tell you, I can't begin to count the times when, bewildered and sideways and totally discouraged on this Path...You have unknowingly come along side me, and helped to walk me Home for awhile....became a white blaze on my Path and helped me re-orient......Your life is meaningful and meant to be, for such a time as this.

I know you're spinning, looking for True North....a little lost....that's ok.....True North has found you, and He sees above all the trees that prevent you from seeing the forest right now.....Don't quit....my mom always said, when you don't know what to do, just do the next thing....sometimes "the next thing" is just tying your shoes, that's ok, all those little laborious steps will add up...things will come clear again...

Jesus, for all the healing my friend Mary has brought to my life, heal her....for all the times she's held my hand on this path, hold her hand now...let Light pierce the darkness, show her, like you showed Elisha, the "More" she needs to see....all around her like the chariots of fire were around Elisha.....open her eyes to see...

Let her cup, once again, overflow...(Psalm 23)

Much love, Mary...email me anytime...

your journal pages sure resonated with me. Especially the one that says "there has to be more". Been feeling that way so often lately. Thank you for the encouragement you always give Mary, when you share your real self here on your blog. I appreciate it so much.
