"Once we clearly acknowledge the soul, we can learn to hear it's cries. - Dallas Willard, Renovation Of The Heart."

It takes courage to pursue our dreams. It takes time and patience to unearth buried treasure. But I believe with all my heart that we must do both.

faces??

i don't usually paint faces.

i really had no desire to paint them, and there's the fact that i don't draw very well.

but i am taking Judy Wise's wonderful mixed media journal class.

wouldn't you know one of the first lessons included painting a face.

so i did it,

and i liked it, kind of...i like the first one better than the second.

i think i like the little off kilter faces better than realistic faces anyway (and that's not because i can't do them)

i just like the offbeat stuff.

we were to write about our perfect day...

it took me a bit of thinking to really come up with what that would be.

i surprised myself.

i do that every now and then.

Mary what a surprise to see your painting of a face. Most of my work before was just figurative a long time ago. Keep learning and exploring new subjects. Great job!

I am now having an invasion of moths in my house. Terminex is coming to my home tomorrow.

Wow, these are very different for you but I like! I like your first face too. I am taking a class with Katie Kendrick and I too had to paint a face. It was a bit scary!
Now, the burning question is ... did you get blue streaks in your hair yet?!

Congrats on taking on such a challenge, like you I don't do faces but here you are doing it anyway. A 'little off beat', kind of like Picasso :-) I like your ideal day, especially not waking up with a headache!

I love your faces!
And that you're stretching
and growing
and taking on this
juicy business of becoming
with such aliveness:)

I recently had a painting day with my nephew. He said "Kimmy, you paint faces like an artist, not like a picture." I liked that though I admire realsit painters, it has just never been my kind of art.
Love the color and play in your art, Mary. Happy faces !
