"Once we clearly acknowledge the soul, we can learn to hear it's cries. - Dallas Willard, Renovation Of The Heart."

It takes courage to pursue our dreams. It takes time and patience to unearth buried treasure. But I believe with all my heart that we must do both.

morphing

I am painting over the Good Friday painting.  It always surprises me how I can be working on something, really not liking it very much and then all of a sudden it clicks.  I like that the texture of the cross is still visible at certain angles.  It reminds me that the cross, that Christ is the foundation of everything.

I have been thinking about life, and my family of origin.  How we are shaped by it.  How we carry it with us.  How we bring it all, the good and the bad into our adult life and our relationships. Because of the way we are individually wired and because of our life experiences we can see the same thing and hear the same words so differently. I have to keep reminding myself that. Reminding myself that there's usually always another side to see. And to extend more grace to the ones I love...because it's usually the ones I love that I have the hardest time giving grace to.

Funny what you wrote about, the shadows and echos of our lives always there leaving some trace behind, just like the texture of the cross shows itself in subtly in your newly morphed painting.

Mary, Your work is as thoughtful as you are...the layers of a life well-lived.
You're always an inspiration.

Oh I feel your words so completely Mary! We all do bring with us into our adulthood the joys and also the hurts and even the untruths that we believed were truths as a child. It does make up part of who we are and how we relate to those we love. But I'm so thankful that God sees the whole entire picture of who we are, and can make beauty from ashes just as He promised. I would be such a mixed up kid if it weren't for his grace and desire to see me eventually molded into that beautiful vessel He intended, with my scars and all. I'm learning to remember that we are all cracked pots and so I need to give grace as well as need it from others for myself.

I love how you share your sincere heart with us in your words and in your paintings. I love real words, emotions and art from the heart.
THANK Y♥U

♥ Lee Ann

Yes! I've been praying about loving those closest more too...and Grace is the answer. I'm grateful that God gives it to us freely and I'm asking Him to give me more to share too!

Your painting is fantastic on so many levels.

Isn't that the truth!
Grace sees in such a generous light!
Ticks me off sometimes
until it's turned toward me
and the relief floods over me.
Then I remember to be grateful.
I love, love, love this painting
and your style.
It's so YOUR style, Mary....
so original and uniquely you.
Well done, you:)

Beautiful, beautiful--the painting and the message. Can't everyone use a little more grace? I will try to walk in grace today. Thank you for this reminder.
