"Once we clearly acknowledge the soul, we can learn to hear it's cries. - Dallas Willard, Renovation Of The Heart."

It takes courage to pursue our dreams. It takes time and patience to unearth buried treasure. But I believe with all my heart that we must do both.

First journal

 Done in 2007

These are the second and third journal entries in my first visual journal. It's fun to look back and see progress both in my life and in my artistic endeavors. I also want those of you that are new to visual journaling, or those who have a desire to do so but are a little afraid to know your pages can be very simple.

These are watercolor on plain lined paper.  The second spread is a song that spoke to my heart.

Please keep me in your prayers.  I am still feeling yucky.  We leave Thursday to move Meg into her dorm.  I need to be well!!!!

Blessings!

Hi Mary
I'm just catching up on your blog entries - sorry you're under the weather! I do hope you pick up real soon :)
I agree about looking back at our early journaling - a great way to see how we've developed creatively, but important to see how we've worked through those old issues!
Its a busy old time for me - we are about to move North (to a lovely city called Durham here in the UK) so I keep snatching a few minutes here and there to blog hop in between doing the myriad of other things that need doing in the midst of moving!
I'll keep swinging by to see how you are and what you've been up to! Take care! x x

I'm continuing to pray for you Mary. We have one down, and one to go. Matt moved in Sat. and Rach will be this Friday. I know you will need all the strength, patience, and good weather you can get. (((Hugs)))

I really ,like this post, Mary. Thank you for the encouragement. Though I have written in journals for 40 years, I have only begun an art journal this year. Sometimes I am hard on my self... I said a prayer for you when I woke up this morning, and I will continue, so that you feel better right QUICK. Being sick in the summer seems rather worse than in the cold, hard winter, you know? Love to you, my friend, ~K

Praying for you so you will feel all better and ready for that special time with Meg on Thursday.

I can so relate to those heartcries, Mary.
And look at the beautiful fruit in your life today. It's more than you know.
(someone once told me we're terrible judges of the quality of our own fruit:-) )
Yours is shiny and bright!
Feel better, Mary

P.S. We took Pete to settle in to his new digs at State on Saturday. Sniff. Never gets easy.

Still praying for your healing & I will now include your protection & peace as you move Meg into her dorm! I will be saying good-bye (for a while) to my youngest as he heads off to his first assignment as a full fledged soldier in Korea.

Psalm 139:Search Me O God...one of my favorite scriptures...like "K" I have been journaling for years, but have just started into art journaling in the past year.

Mary, you are an inspiration to me, thank you!

I agree, these first few entries in your first Journal shows your willingness to give it all to our Father..That theme has been the mainstay of all your journal entries since. I'm so proud of your work in art and in your awesome relationship with Abba...I love you so sis...Me
