"Once we clearly acknowledge the soul, we can learn to hear it's cries. - Dallas Willard, Renovation Of The Heart."

It takes courage to pursue our dreams. It takes time and patience to unearth buried treasure. But I believe with all my heart that we must do both.

new painting - entangled heart

It's funny how things look different in person.  I like it much better in person. Here it looks like it's a bit too busy, and the center looks a little crooked - I think that is due to my photo and cropping skills. Maybe if I outline the square it will define it better.

I painted this over a painting my precious sister began while visiting last year.  I don't remember what she used to make the tree design , and the swirly vine.  It reminds me of all the tendrils that can entangle the heart.

I'm gonna go take a nap and try to get rid of this headache.

Love this piece Mary! I often have the same trouble... things look better in my house than on my computer screen! ;) Hope you lose that darn headache soon!

Oh this looks fab. I have looked and looked, but I can not see that the centre is crooked! You are too critical of yourself! And too busy? You can't have too busy! Love it - fab work as always :-)
Hope the headache goes away ....

mmmmm... I don't think it looks too busy. I think it is beautiful

heart entangled, it's arresting! Your graffiti style is meant to have it all going on, so too busy just doesn't compute. I understand how the very feel and nuances are often not conveyed on a computer, nothing is quite like that live version, but still when I enlarge it I can see all the textural work and almost 'feel' it :-)
Headaches seem to be going around, hope your nap helped

I love it, Mary. Under all those tangles, there is still a solid tree.....LIFE inside the creeping vines. There is so much beauty in and around that heart even while it's constricted. Just imagine the loveliness as it becomes disentangled!!! Lord, take us there:)

Hope your headache is soothed by now.

quite the metaphor, Mary.....Yeah, that's the goal, to be rooted, but not entangled.....laying aside every weight and what not.......How I cling sometimes to seemingly innocuous things that will eventually strangle me...The Shepherd knows this and tries to loosen my grip...sometimes I listen, sometimes I end up needing the Master Gardener to make me free, *again*.......

...thankful for His 70x7 policy.......

(no irreverence intended there...)

...and thankful, as always, for your offerings here, Mary.....

It must be outstanding in person, because it's wonderful on the screen, but I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes it helps me fix a piece when I look at it in a photo, but this one is perfect!

I do hope your headache is gone today Mary and that you are feeling better. Maybe your brain just needed a rest from all of the talent and creative ideas you have stored in there! You are AMAZING Mary and so is this wonderful piece of art. The bright colors you use just brighten my day and bring me joy, just like YOU do. (I believe the painting looks great just as it is)

Love ya AMAZING Mary!

My computer thinks it can do what it wants...it puts sites on that I didn't and I know I commented on this post and it's not there....I wonder if what happened I didnt put the right code in at the bottom and it didn't post.....anyway.....

I want you to know you are a great friend, caring and compassionate and I am glad God brought you into my life....

Now on to your post and that georgeous picture......It really spoke to me because it is just reminds me so much of the heart session we do at the retreats,,,,the tangles inside the heart are just what we talk about......Do you think you would sell me this picture to put in the Art Shed? How big is it anyway....Think about it and let me know...I guess I would need to know how much it costs, if you're willing to sell it, I might not can afford such a talented artist's work....
I'll email you.....love it though, Mar.......

I love it Mar...gee it would never have looked like this if I'd finished it. You see beyond and paint with your heart.. You know I think most of us see things on the surface...then move on to other things in our lives...not just paintings, but everyday things...we worry about things that just don't matter...looking at that painting I see so much going on...it touches my soul sweet sister...I want to come soon.heheheheh so I can play with your spray paints too..ehehehe

Mary, Thanks for your loving comment. Months ago, I was afraid I offended you with an over-zealous comment of my own on your blog. I just tend to get excited about my faith.
As for yesterday, my back was out, but after a trip to my chiropractor, it's on the mend. I enjoy your blog so much; it's prolly a good thing you & I don't live in the same neighborhood. Jack & I would rule the world, I'm sure...Hugs!

This is fabulous, Mary!!! I love the texture of the tree too. I hope your headache gets better. I have one too but I hit my head on the chair as I was leaning down to put lotion of my legs. It hurt and I have a goose egg. Oh, and yes, that is a henna hand. I love the stencil.

just returned from a couple of weeks of off and on travelling with kids...I'm pooped!! just had a chance to check in and see what my favorite artist friends are doing. your work is growing!! I love it!! It's still very you but this piece is slightly different --very fresh but again still very you! whatever you're doing, keep going!! I miss blogging but summer is beating me and my creative outlets down a bit. you'll hear more from me when these kiddos start school next month!! smiles!!
