"Once we clearly acknowledge the soul, we can learn to hear it's cries. - Dallas Willard, Renovation Of The Heart."

It takes courage to pursue our dreams. It takes time and patience to unearth buried treasure. But I believe with all my heart that we must do both.

Painting covers

I painted my daily journal.

The one that I just write in.

The one that I journal what I am feeling.

The one where I talk things out.

I find so much more pleasure in journaling in a fun funky journal, as opposed to one with a generic cover.

Silly really, but I do.

I am such a visual person, I like my surroundings and things to be fun to look at. I can get carried away with that though. I can be discontent when I don't like how things look, including myself if I am honest (honest even with myself).

These picture are of my current journal. I am pleased with it - but I like the back of it better than the front!!! :)

Hope you all have a good day!!!!

Hi Mary,
The covers looks just like it should..It's you.
Full of color and life.
I read you last post and it is so true. You should use your wonderful talent of speaking from the heart to the heart of others.

Hi Mary, I usually read your blog via a reader but had to pop in and let you know that I have been admiring your work and use of color. I am in love with color too! I am ready to start a new journal and nothing is better than seeing colorful inspiration! Ps. I love your new blog background and the header I have admired since you changed it but never mentioned. Hope all is well.
~All my best, Theresa

maybe you'll have to flip it around and turn it upside down, talk about a visual jolt when you go to write in it!
I understand the need to alter it, after all working out our feelings and problems in like take a lot of creative thinking the beautiful covers you've created just jump start the creative process. Very cool. Sometimes our biggest battles are to keep from rejecting ourselves, boy do I get that!

I totally understand, I always spend (way too much) time decorating my sketchbooks before I use them, too. It's inspiring.
I love the bright colors on your new one. Happy Journaling!

Mary, I understand totally about being visual!!! I can just imagine you sitting in your art room, looking out your windows and being inspired with what God is doing on your farm this time of year!
Wish I was there!!
Hugs,
Yvette

I am visual, too, Mary! Love your color combinations. One year I realized why I was so unhappy - it had to do with lack of color! Lol...I had lived too long in a pastel world, and realized I've always loved earth tones, accented with REDS! and other deep colors. You're making love red & blue here, my dear. You are such a fun person to know. You really inspire my heart and share so many wonderful things in common. Can't wait to meet you!

PS - meant to say "You're making me love red & blue...." typing too fast! Ha!

these are wonderful, mary! i like to write in journals that are either wonderfully creative, inspirational or just fun.but more and more of my writing is straight into the computer. i tried writing a newsletter for work out the other day and had to give up and type it into word. i felt all discombobulated trying to write instead of typing.
