"Once we clearly acknowledge the soul, we can learn to hear it's cries. - Dallas Willard, Renovation Of The Heart."

It takes courage to pursue our dreams. It takes time and patience to unearth buried treasure. But I believe with all my heart that we must do both.

journal page and questions

I hear this question a lot.

What would you do if you knew you would not fail?

I do think fear of failing keeps us stuck, and stops us from beginning...

But I believe too, there are things worth doing, and beginning even if we do fail.

Failure is not always a bad thing...it's how we grow and move forward...it's how we explore...

Failing does not mean I am a failure, or you are a failure.

The way you've presented the question: what's worth doing even if I fail, is very powerful. I've been thinking about this since I saw it on instagram.

I have been considering going in with a group of artists and starting our own coop. It is just in the planning and we need more people willing to go for it 100% but it's being discussed. I want to do it, but I'm having a lot of fears. I've done group projects before with people, where I felt that I was the bigger contributor, and I do not want to go through that again. I guess a lot of it will depend on how well it is organized. If I do it, I want to commit to a year, so I expect the others to do the same. It's not just the work, but it's the money, too. I want to do it . . . but have a lot of fears :(

Amen to that! I like how Brene Brown puts it, "what would you do if failing didn't matter?"

Can you tell I have been listening to her??? :)

Perhaps this is where procrastination comes in to play. You can't fail if you don't try, so just put off what needs to be done to start.

The avenue to success is to simply start. Take the first step today and then take the second step tomorrow and before you know it, you've finished something.

I love the drawing of the feather on this page. Good job.

Jo yes, procrastination and fear! I think fear is behind the procrastinatin much of the time.

Connie I understand your apprehension. There is always risk, wether it's money, time, relationships or our hearts. Is it worth the risk? What would be lost if you don't try? Is that greater than if you try and it doesn't work out?

It could be a lot of fun! :)

Mar, you have struck a cord today...sometimes I think fear creeps into things and one is not even aware that it's part of the lack of motivation in starting or completing something....

Love ya friend,
Nanie

Ha! Or sometimes it is pure laziness...I have something I need to do, not fearful...just don't feel like it!!!

I kind of think that love
is the only thing strong enough
to push me past that fear of failure
and into the real work
of my heart.
Grateful for the deep well of it
in God,
Jennifer
(your feathers are wonderful!)
