"Once we clearly acknowledge the soul, we can learn to hear it's cries. - Dallas Willard, Renovation Of The Heart."

It takes courage to pursue our dreams. It takes time and patience to unearth buried treasure. But I believe with all my heart that we must do both.

be full

a photographer i am not.

however, i would like to learn to take a decent photo.

and take more photos of my life, my journey, my story.

for me, visual journaling is a way to record parts of my story.

remember this color wheel?  it has the word "experience" written down the right side. after i framed it, i wanted to put a word on the top.  i wrote the word "life".

and this color wheel has "be full" on it. with Isaiah 55:1-2 written small, but visible on the piece.

there is a wonderful story behind those words.  some would call it serendipity, i would call it guidance.

let me explain a little...just a little, and i need a bit of a break from all this getting ready for the Little Red Barn Sale. and it's good for me to remember, and connect the dots of my story.  we all have a story you know, one that God is writing.

i looked up what the dictionary says about serendipity.

good fortune: luck
blessing
break
dumb luck
happenstance
happy chance
stumbling upon
tripping over

though stumbling upon and tripping over resonated with me a bit (because i am so hard of hearing sometimes lol) what i am talking about is not serendipity.

it started with deciding to use a book for a journal.  I chose "Breaking Free" by Beth Moore.  i had read and done the study with my small group many years ago.  but as i was gluing pages together i began to read pieces of it and realized i wanted to read it again.  i am in a different place in life/story.  so i ordered it again.

then i was on Dawn Sokol's blog and for a journal prompt she suggested we write just one word across the page.  for some reason the word  anticipation keep coming to my mind.  so i wrote it.

later that night i began Breaking Free.  here is part of a prayer of dedication.  "Oh God, as we begin this journey, our hearts are so full of anticipation."   yep!!!  that was not serendipity.  that was guidance.  and i heard.  by the way, remember my word for the year is listening.  :)

and...the second color wheel i did, the one i mentioned has Isa. 55: 1-2 written on it...here's why.

i  was thinking about a word, and the word full kept coming to me. i was talking it over with meg and she said how about abundance...it does sound better than full.  full, such a little word. but i waited.  something kept me from writing it.

this is so good...

i was reading breaking free and came upon this.

Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.
(Isa. 55:1-2)

the Hebrew word for "satisfy" is sob'ah, meaning "to have enough, be full...sufficiently".

be full...ahhh, that's why i waited.  the word was "be full"

and do we work so hard for things that are never enough, can never fill us up and are endlessly insufficient?

i do!!

a call to me to come back to the source.

how about you, are you thirsty?

much grace, love, and peace to you all.
