"Once we clearly acknowledge the soul, we can learn to hear it's cries. - Dallas Willard, Renovation Of The Heart."

It takes courage to pursue our dreams. It takes time and patience to unearth buried treasure. But I believe with all my heart that we must do both.

new journal page and stuff

working in my journal a bit. i seem to be drawn to it more these days. i make such a mess when i do one though. i started this one trying to make it a little "prettier", but i really don't begin to like them until i grunge them up a bit. i wonder sometimes, if my internal struggles have something to do with that.  then again, i think i think too hard and much sometimes...

i have a workshop this Saturday and have much to do.  i also am beginning another women's night out visual journaling series at Out of The Box art studio in Roswell next Thursday.

i am doing a workshop at a local library in a few weeks.  i think it will be a younger group, mostly teens. i have been thinking about doing a journal prompt on body image for this workshop. i don't think there is person out there who does not struggle with this on some level.

off to get supplies

love the new page mary! i can totally get where you're coming from on how your internal struggles may have some influence on your artistic process. i sometimes think that may be where my obsession with detail and getting things perfect comes from.....wanting to have control over something, when my life seems so out of control. probably why God keeps pushing me to loosen up artistically....so glad i'm starting to listen. :D

blessings & love!

Yep, that struggle to make things prettier or better or perfect often stops me in my tracks. Why can't we be satisfied with accepting our best efforts at the time and moving on? Could some of it comes from our struggle to be more like the perfect One?

You're right about the body image prompt being universal, or nearly so, and certainly in the American culture when we're bombarded by related messages wherever we look.

I know your work with women and girls will help a lot.

Hi Mar! Yes, thinking sometimes is detrimental to my art work! Usually my left brain is screaming at my right brain that I am not doing it right. I feel like my brain is two squabbling siblings at times! It's a beautiful page, Mary, and I too love to "grunge!" I don't think it has anything to do with your innards---you just know how to make a cool-looking journal page, that's all!

Your workshops will be wonderful I am sure!

Mary, I just love your honesty!! As I am doing a few doodling journal pages .... I am frustrated because they are always too perfect looking .... believe me, it is not because I am perfect ...ha... thank goodness for the One who sees us perfect ....but I would love to grunge up a page and get the fabulous colors and depth you get on your pages!!! Sometimes we are so careful ....the truth of our beauty doesn't get splashed across the page .... I love your pages....love them!! Keep splashing the beauty!!

Well Mar, I am so excited for you with all the workshops you have on the horizon...From being with you in one workshop, I know these ladies are going to be blessed beyond measure and learn so much from you.....

I have to tell you I believe everything we do is in one shape or another inspired by what's going on inside of us....It just seems to come out no matter how hard we try for it not to......I think it helps us have insights and from insights come healing.....

What I see in your beautiful journal pages are strong and loving things going on inside of you.....You may question lots of things, but girl you know where the answers lie and that's the most important piece of information anyone can have......

I hope your weekend is wonderful....

Mary, your journal pages are so vibrant and exciting-therein lies their beauty! They reveal your beautiful soul. So much of your inner light comes out in your pages. You inspire me. I hope your workshops go well. I think body image is an excellent topic for young women. So often we view ourselves and other women as objects instead of people with beautiful souls. I'm actually taking a workshop called Body Restoration at bravegirls.com. I think we all could use some encouragement in that area. Have a lovely weekend. Hugs, Terri
