"Once we clearly acknowledge the soul, we can learn to hear it's cries. - Dallas Willard, Renovation Of The Heart."

It takes courage to pursue our dreams. It takes time and patience to unearth buried treasure. But I believe with all my heart that we must do both.

chucking the fear

I have been afraid of collage.

I love journal pages that have elements of collage to them. Some with paint, some just paper, but I have been fearful of doing them. I am sure it is fear of not doing it right and looking like crap!!! I have tried to do "Teesha" style pages before and just can't seem to get them right.

I have been viewing Kelly Kilmer's blog for awhile and really like her pages so I decided to take her class "A Life Made By Hand". I made the little journal she shows you how to and jumped in. The photo posted is the cover. It is covered with shipping tape to make it durable as she suggests. I am really pleased with how it turned out and I am excited to do more.

Dear Mary,

For me, it's awesome... you certainly have a way with everything around you... i remember the first time i did a collage was during my elementary years... i didn't get that well during that time... btw, have you tried doin' a mosaic??? well, that's what i enjoyed the most... since i find it less easy to do... anyhow, i enjoyed the visit...!!!:)

Take care!

Congrats on 'Chucking the Fear' I love your collage and the packing tape to protect it is a great idea. I'm very flattered that you want to 'share' my Step by Step, by all means yes! I'd love to see the results if your group tries the technique, too!

Okay now Mary, I'm being a bit crazy here, but you MUST sing the following words to the tune of Mary Had a Little Lamb.

Mary had a little fear, little fear, little fear.
Mary had a little fear, the fear of looking like crap!

She took that fear and did it afraid, did it afraid, did it afraid.
She took that fear and did it afraid, and discovered fear was the crap!

Okay, I'm really not a song or poet writer, but for some reason it was what came into my head when I read your post. I so relate to you Mary and the fear of not doing something right and it looking like crap! But it's so inspiring when someone gets brave and in the process rubs off on you. (me) Your journal cover is WONDERFUL!

I'm so proud of you!

Lee Ann

Be sure to stop by my blog tomorrow, because I am getting brave and having my first GIVEAWAY!

Love the collage, who is the girl??? I have been experimenting with collage also, and keep trying new things. Is that an online class or in a studio? I looked at her website and can't find it. Can you give more info???

I love to do collage cuz it's "easy" for me - but stick me with JUST paints or charcoal and I have no idea where to begin
