"Once we clearly acknowledge the soul, we can learn to hear it's cries. - Dallas Willard, Renovation Of The Heart."

It takes courage to pursue our dreams. It takes time and patience to unearth buried treasure. But I believe with all my heart that we must do both.

A short road trip

Here are a few new journal backgrounds.

This afternoon we are driving to Kentucky to visit Campbellsville University. Meg has been accepted there and we are looking at the school and campus. It's a 6 hour drive so I will have a chance to work on these some more in the car.

Meg is my third and last child to leave the nest. I thought it would be a bit easier, but the closer we get to her leaving I'm thinking I might have been wrong about that!!

See ya when we get back!!

Beautiful [again!]...May God's comfort cover you as your youngest child spread her wings and fly toward a new adventure. Be strong in the Lord's mighty power. I still have a few years to go [which I know will go by fast] and I can't imagine watching my son say goodbye as he goes off to college. Please send my comment back to me by then :) God bless sister.

Oh I remember those college trips with our daughters. Enjoy your time away together. It is such a special time seeing them start out on their own and a little emotional too for us mommas.

Anxious to see what you do with your journal pages, especially what you will do while in the car. I so need to learn from you!

I'll play while you're driving, sure hope the trip goes well. Meg off to college, talk about another big change coming into your lives!

These backgrounds are yum, interested to see how you finish them out, on the road no less! Brave :-) Maybe that should be the theme, 'be brave' with the last leaving the nest.

I'd imagine the last one leaving the nest will be bittersweet! Enjoy this time with her! :)

These paintings are WONDERFUL, Mar!!! I just love your paintings and your colors and your compositions---I love it all!
And, oh goodness, the empty next is approaching. Yes, it's hard but somehow we all get through it! I will be praying for you when the "day" comes.

Love your journal pages,I like the stenils that you used. I think I have one of them,I always buy stuff and put it away and then I forget about them. Awwww I'm sorry your youngest is leaving the nest soon,I have three too and only one is still at home, she's 13 so I have alittle longer but I know what lies ahead and I don't think its easy with any of them.Have a safe and fun trip.

Love your pages Mary - maybe the top spread represents a prayer for peace as Meg prepares to leave the nest? My baby will be leaving in the fall too. I've always tried to enjoy each stage of my kids' lives, but still the months ahead will be bittersweet. Hope you campus visit goes well!!

I love your pages Mary - maybe the top one represents Meg 'flying the nest'? Hard to see them go but at the same time you know its right that they flex their muscles and learn how to negotiate the path of life for themselves....this thought kept me sane when our three left for university...you can't take the grain out of the wood....what their Dad and I had built into them as they were growing up would always stay with them. Peace be with you. x x
