"Once we clearly acknowledge the soul, we can learn to hear it's cries. - Dallas Willard, Renovation Of The Heart."

It takes courage to pursue our dreams. It takes time and patience to unearth buried treasure. But I believe with all my heart that we must do both.

New Stencils

I was playing with some new stencils from Tulip's fashion graffiti line. I like them a lot, but I would like to find some bigger ones with the same look.

I like seeing a photo of my work - I can see where it may need a little something. I think both of these need a little something more. Maybe drips through the heart. I painted the center of the heart stencil thinking it needed a bit more color and in doing so covered up the drips made by the stencil. And I think the bottom painting needs a bit more on the top left side.

Naaaah, didn't like the drips in the heart!!! :)

Your graffiti style is developing fantastically Mary! I like those stencils, I have some larger alphabet ones but they always seem TOO large - I guess where art stash is concerned we're never satisfied eh? x x

It's always a fight to find the right size stencil or stamp for what you envision. This new layer of graffiti added to your already developed style is a perfect fit. Don't you just love how drips and splats of paint can unify a piece? Maybe a little journaling in your own hand would round out these pages or at least the second one you mentioned needing something more. Wonderful

Oh I DO love these!! And you CAN make your own stencils.....there is a heavy mylar that I get and it is wonderful to use! I draw my design on it usually with a sharpie ...then cut it with a swivel tiny knife on top of a piece of glass....the first one I ever made was just leaves....and it is still one of my favorites!! Even using oil crayons in them....leaves this thicker edge and has a wonderful effect!....found that out accidentally...someday we will meet and have that cup of coffee!!!

You have such a distinct style in your paintings Mary. Your creations are truly AMAZING. I can see so much emotion flowing out of you into what you create. These are magnificent. So are you!!!

This is exciting, what do you think of the class you did join? I'm like you collage is a weak spot with me therefore I though I needed the most help there or at least that's where I've chosen to start :-) I need help everywhere! And that's what I like about Julie & Chris workshops, you go at your own pace. Too bad we were not doing the same one, could brainstorm when we're stuck.
