"Once we clearly acknowledge the soul, we can learn to hear it's cries. - Dallas Willard, Renovation Of The Heart."

It takes courage to pursue our dreams. It takes time and patience to unearth buried treasure. But I believe with all my heart that we must do both.

same but different

I painted another journal today.

Yesterdays journal is 6x8, and this one is 8x11.

The front of this journal has the numbers going horizontal. I think it needs a little something under the numbers in that blank spot. What do you think??

There is something about these colors that I am drawn to. I painted a long narrow picture similar to these, but it need a little more before I post it.

I don't know Mar, I rather like how the numbers look, kind of a halo effect making them stand out, but you may want them to blend in more by adding something more just below them. That will be up to your eye to determine :-) They are wonderful, really like the use of the houses at the bottom of the covers and of course your wonderful use of joyous colours! I think you will love the big size journal as it mimics the freedom you would have in painting a canvas, I know I like my journals big :-)

if you want to keep it the 'same but different' then under the first set of numbers in the top journal you could stencil out the number four...written out

f o u r

that way it fills the space, and truly remains the 'same but different!'

that was fun! thanks for askin'!

So what did you decide to do about your journal cover? Did you add to it?

Re your comments on my blog post:
Thanks Mar, and yes the words are raised using molding gel through a stencil first then adding paint.
As for the introvert puzzle we need to have a conversation on that one! I'm much like you, I can get wound up and no one who knows me would peg me as an introvert today. However the key is in knowing what actually recharges you, now I enjoy being with people, have a great time but I then crave time to myself to reboot, whereas my husband when alone for short periods of time goes mad looking for someone to talk to hang out with, whatever. He is energized by his time with people and time alone drains him. The other interesting thing is feeling protective of your personal space, like your studio, you don't mind sharing but by your invitation not just someone going in and using your stuff without asking. Interesting stuff

It looks great the way it is Mary, but I agree with cristie, that adding polka dots would be fun. You and I both love polka dots, as anyone can tell from our blog decor.
