"Once we clearly acknowledge the soul, we can learn to hear it's cries. - Dallas Willard, Renovation Of The Heart."

It takes courage to pursue our dreams. It takes time and patience to unearth buried treasure. But I believe with all my heart that we must do both.

Abiding Monday

"But we love her, quirks and all."

This is from a few posts ago (Around the Studio) about my mischievous Jack the cat.

God has been moving in my heart. In my heart I hear, "Can you love and accept the people in your life with all their many quirks, as easily as you love and accept this cat?"

OUCH!

Oh Lord, do I have an easier time extending grace to a cat than I do others????

Yes, you do my child.

So here I sit for a bit, searching my heart, bringing it to Abba.

Reminds me of a quote from one of my favorites:

"I love humanity; it's people I can't stand." -- the character Linus, in the comic strip Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz.

Definitely a challenge sometimes! Thanks for the Monday reflection, hope you have a good week. :-)

Mary, thanks for starting my day with such an important question....I too allow Simon to do whatever he wants and have no mercy for others at time....I think it's about expectations...I have none for Simon except to love me and with others I have many...God wants us to go to Him for our needs and hence no expectations on others....Hard for me to do sometimes....
P.S. How was the trip?
Hugs and Blessings,
Butterfly

I'm with you on this one......I have a few people in my life who do things like your cat. :)

Lord, help me accept the people and the things I can't change.
Blessings,
Tammy

Sometimes I think it's the ones we love the most that we can often forget to extend grace to. Thanks for the reminder Mary!

Don't you love how God just drops things into our spirits through ordinary situations. We humans are complicated beings, so we tend to have more complicated relationships with one another. Now a cat, well, we know what independent creatures they are and hold out little hope of being able to change them :-) But it's our hope in one another and our ability to change than leads us to the pace of disappointments and let downs and yet we continue to hope that things will get better.
