"Once we clearly acknowledge the soul, we can learn to hear it's cries. - Dallas Willard, Renovation Of The Heart."

It takes courage to pursue our dreams. It takes time and patience to unearth buried treasure. But I believe with all my heart that we must do both.

Around the studio

Well I bet you expected to see pictures of my studio or some new work with that title.

My studio is in shambles!

It's just too messy to do any kind of creating in it.

Yesterday I decided to do something about it. It is much better but still needs work. I need to purchase containers to hold all the stuff that is loose on the shelves. It is impossible to keep things neat and orderly as is. And I need some bookshelves for all my books!!! I think I found an arrangement for my tables that works very well for me. I'll post some pictures later.

The pictures are of Jack the cat! I had a helper while cleaning. Jack is the little barn kitty we found in our barn last June. She is adorable, but the most mischievous cat we have ever had.

She steals socks!

Then she puts them in the toilet!

Swishes them around, and then drops them on the floor!

She also unrolls the toilet paper rolls!
My daughter took hers of the holder, placed it on the top of the toilet, and later
found Jack had pushed it off into the toilet!!

Now, if you are not a cat lover you are asking yourself why in the world do we still have her, maybe you are thinking SHE should go in the toilet!!

But we love her, quirks and all.

She has another, see her sucking on the blanket?????

She sucks on anything fleece, flannel, or soft!!!
Unfortunately I wear fleece - a lot!!!
Yep, you can find her attached to my shirt if I am sitting down!!!

Maybe we took her away from her Mama too soon, but for goodness sake, she will be a year in a few months!!!!

Oh I forgot, she also steels gym shorts!! lol

Jack the cat sounds very talented! So funny! Sounds like she wants to be a human!

Mary, you make my day with the comments you leave on my blog...and again there is another thing we have in common with both loving the Velveteen Rabbit book.

Anxious to see your studio when you get it all set up.

Hugs to you Mary,
Lee Ann

Jack sound pretty hilarious. I guess that's the thing with pets -we keep them around because we love them and their quirks, no matter how ridiculous they can be.

Sure wish I had a cat around the studio. Mischief notwithstanding. :-)

I know about attachment to cats...I love love love Simon...He is an enabler...He loves to knock things off tables then Daisy comes along and chews them to pieces....They really work in tatum...I have to watch them closely.....
I think yours takes the cake; never heard of such antics from a cat....makes you love them though.....
By the way, studios are not meant to stay straight...that's my rule and I change mine around about every month or so but like it the best the way it is now...maybe I'll leave it alone... My DH laughts with that thought...
Hugs and Blessings,
Butterfly

My daughter solved the problem of her cat unrolling the toilet paper while on the holder: put it on the holder with the paper going down the wall instead of over the top. The cat can't get it to unroll cause it's backwards.
My cat kneads fleece and flannel but thankfully, he doesn't suck it.

I know all about how attached we get to our cats (or other pets.) Jack looks like quite the little prankster but who could resist that adorable face!

everyone needs a studio mascot, and it looks like jack is the perfect fit!! of course, you might want to start keeping the bathroom door closed (and then she'll probably figure out how to open it, right?!! hee hee)
xox, :))

Mary, Your cat is hilarious. You should video her dropping the socks in the toilet and send it in to funniest Home videos.

He is just too funny! I can just see him now batting that sock around in the toilet bowl, you'd think he'd find a better way of helping you out with the laundry. I'm surprised he doesn't have half your art stash carried off by now, that would be one way of streamlining your studio. Looking forward to see what you've done, staying on top of organizing our art stuff is an on going challenge I'm finding, fun though!

Hi Mary,
I think that is so funny about your cat....I have never heard of anything like the socks in the toilet. My dog used to eat the edges off all my towels. I have many towels with no corners. Luckily he grew out of it.
By the way, I started a new blog. Would love to have you stop by. :)
I realized I had more to say.

Blessings,
Tammy

I came across your blog, via ..well, can't remember, lol.. I love the art work.. I especially love Jack, the helper.. I so get the whole " mischievious cat" syndrome, and loved every minute of our own " MisseeCat" when we had her in our lives.. she was more of a scrappy cat, meaning she would get into my fabric scrap basket, and sneak away with my most favorite of colors - purple.. seriously funny girl MisseeCat, was.. I am excited to read more of your awesome thoughts.. truly love the colors, and paintings..
