"Once we clearly acknowledge the soul, we can learn to hear it's cries. - Dallas Willard, Renovation Of The Heart."

It takes courage to pursue our dreams. It takes time and patience to unearth buried treasure. But I believe with all my heart that we must do both.

Here is a background I am working on

This is a background I am working on. It is turning totally different than I had planned. I began it with the intentions of doing a larger version of the heart and home painting I posted a few days back. So I began by adding color. I added gesso over the top to add another layer. The paint was not totally dry and it blended with the paint giving it a softer look. I just started playing with glazes adding layer after layer and this is what came about. I think I really like it. I am taking Carmen's "Spill It" class and used some of her techniques in this. I am not sure what the finished painting will be, but that's okay. I am going to see just where this takes me.

The colors are so yummy. I can't wait to see what you end up doing with this. Isn't it fun to discover something new? The trick is remembering how you got there when you are finished. HA!

I really like the way your painting is turning out. Painting is like life....once we start we don't know what it will look like in the end.

I think it's great you are following your passion. So many get so bogged down in life they forget to live and do the things they really enjoy.
I can't wait to see how it ends up.

I love that background. I can't imagine what it will look like when you add something else. I like it just like it is!

I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you. When I got back from the retreat I spoke at I had 500 messages and was overwhelmed. I ended up hitting delete on the whole parcel.

Send me an email and I'll give you my phone number. I'll check with Mike to see what his prefererence is. I'm thinking Saturday if that works for you, but let me check with him.

Mary, like everyone else I love what you're doing here. I think your brave tackling a huge canvass! Good on you!

This is the second time I've blurfed my way to a blog where the artist is working with Carmen. (Just saw Mar's post...but, ironically, that's not how I arrived here.) And both times I have responded to the work. Hmmmmmm.....think I should be listening??!! I really am pulled in by your colors here. There is a lot of light coming through. While I'm not taking one of Carmen's classes (though I'm starting to think, I should investigate further!), I just started another painting yesterday and the first layer has turned out much different than the picture in my head for its base. Now, I'm trying to decide which way to go.......let the painting lead me or try to steer it towards this picture I've had in my head waiting to make it to canvas. In any event, I'm glad I blurfed (blog + surfed) my way here!! :>
